[About Yoshimasa Tsuchiya]
Yoshimasa Tsuchiya studied sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts before completing a doctoral programme in conservation and restoration sculpture at its graduate school. He is now an up-and-coming Japanese sculptor whose wood carvings, employing traditional Buddhist sculpture techniques and featuring motifs ranging from real animals to mythical and imaginary creatures, have garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally in recent years. Key characteristics of Tsuchiya's work include crystal eyes, delicate, watercolour-like pale colouring, and an overall aura of ephemerality and gentleness. His sculptures possess an undeniable beauty that captivates the viewer. He is undoubtedly a contemporary sculptor whose global prominence will continue to grow.

土屋仁応（つちやよしまさ）は、東京藝術大学で彫刻を学んだ後、同大学大学院にて保存修復彫刻の博士課程を修了。そして現在は、実在の動物から神話や想像上の動物までをモチーフに、伝統的な仏像彫刻の技法を使った木彫作品が近年国内外で大きな注目を集めている新進気鋭の日本人彫刻家です。土屋作品の重要な特徴である水晶を使った玉眼、まるで水彩画のような繊細な淡い彩色、そして、作品全体から溢れ出る儚さと優しさ。彼の彫刻作品には見る者に有無を言わせぬ美しさが宿っています。今後ますます世界的な注目度が上がること間違いなしの現代彫刻家です。
